Question 5: When did the RWA realise the importance of clean surroundings?

Answer: The RWA(Residents’ Welfare Association) realised the importance of clean surroundings when all the workers of the city went on a strike. There were dumps of garbage and litter everywhere which not only looked horrible but were also a warning of the diseases that could affect them.

Question 6: How did Anju participate in this drive?

Answer: Anju participated in this drive by cleaning the locality with the other residents of the area every Sunday.

Question 7: What are the values and benefits that one gets while participating in such kind of cleanliness drives/events?

Answer: When you clean your surroundings with your neighbours, you have a sense of belonging to the locality and you develop friendly feelings towards them. This in turn helps to bind the residents of a locality through a common objective and it leads to a well-knit community where people co-operate and support each other. When such communities are created, the nation becomes stronger despite all the differences that may exist. People join hands to work for the progress and development of the nation.

Question 8: Why do you think people care to keep their homes clean but litter the streets?

Answer: According to me, people care to keep their homes clean but litter the streets because they don’t feel a sense of responsibility towards the neighbourhood, city or the environment. They do not feel themselves a part of the society and have no sense of involvement at all.
