Question 1: ‘To the kids not allowed to get A’s’. How can some children not be ‘allowed’ to get A’s?

Answer: Some children cannot be allowed to get A’s because they are considered to be different and being disabled, they feel it difficult to compete with other abled children.

Question 2: Why do you think the poet refers to the ‘different’ kids as cool?

Answer: The poet refers to the different kids as cool because even though they have lots of problems they just remain quiet or silent and do not go about complaining about their problems to others.

Answer: The lives of some children have ‘not been a breeze’ because some children never get the opportunity to enjoy happy moments in their lives.

(b) Do you know of any disease that can cause physical disability?

Answer: Yes, the disease that can cause physical disability is polio.

(c) Why does the poet want us to ‘raise glasses’ to such children?

Answer: The poet wants us to ‘raise glasses’ or ‘show concern’ to the kids who are different and make them feel that they too are one among us.

Question 4: Pick out lines from the poem which tell us that ‘different’ kids cannot sing and dance the way others can.

Answer: The lines ‘to the kids who never sing along’ and ‘to the kids who will never dance along’ tell us that ‘different’ kids cannot sing and dance the way others can.

Question 5: How do guide dogs help children who have problems?

Answer: Guide dogs enable children who are blind or impaired to achieve independence and mobility. They are trained to work with children, safely guiding them where they need to go, walk freely and feel confident. The guide dogs are trained to recognize obstacles in their path and guard them safely around. The guide dogs have good traffic awareness and safety.

Answer: Some children never get loving looks because at times they feel discouraged, discriminated and disappointed on thinking of the problems they face in their daily life and are not able to share their feelings with others.

Answer: Some kids may be orphans, thus having no one to talk to or share their feelings. Or it may be even so in the case of kids who are deaf and dumb.

(b) Why does the poet say that ‘kids who are different’ are not that different at all?

Answer: The poet says that the ‘kids who are different’ are not that different at all because they too have amazing abilities such as singing, dancing, writing and even playing, drawing etc.

(c) Why is it important to ‘show’ these kids that they are no different than the rest?

Answer: It is important to show that the kids who are different are not different from the rest because it is essential to make them feel happy, away from loneliness, disappointment and discouragement from others.
