Answer: Swallows travel to and fro through the sky.

Answer: The breezes bear perfume and love with them and travel long distance within nature.

Answer: The sun, the moon, dew, rain, flowers, etc. are the things mentioned by the poet that are the same everywhere.

Answer: According to the poet,wherever one may go in this world, he will find the same sunshine and the moonshine above, dew, rain and flowers.

(a) Where do the breezes hasten?

Answer: The breezes hasten and swallows freely fly from one place to another without any restriction.

(b) What is meant by ‘towered clouds’?

Answer: Towered clouds means the clouds which are high above the speaker and are said to forever ply i.e., move regularly. They are stalked endlessly one on top of the other and they seem to go up into the sky forever.

(c) What does the poet wish to convey through the last two lines?

Answer: In the last two lines, the poet introduces the relationship between the speaker and the someone that he cares about. He says at noon of the day, he and the person to whom this poem is being spoken, “See the sunshine above.” This gives the impression that though the people are not in the same location bur are connected by the same natural environment.

(a) Explain fanned with wings.

Answer: Fanned with wings means the birds flying everywhere. The poet says that along with a great amount of sunshine and a plentiful harvest, the air is full of fanned wings i.e. birds flying everywhere. They fill the air so completely that it seems that the sky and the air are alive.

(b) How does the breeze bring into contact distant things?

Answer: Wherever the breeze goes, it brings with them a great amount of sunshine, moonshine, a plentiful harvest etc. Breeze bear love on its back and transports it wherever it travels.

(c) What is the underlying significance of these lines?

Answer: Through these lines, the poet wants to convey that though all the people in this world do not stay at the same location yet they experience the same natural environment.

Question 7: How do you think breeze can make all countries one?

Answer: The poet says that souls that are separated can be brought together either by ‘scent, sound or sight’ which breeze carries while travelling from one place to another. So, one through nature can find a connection with someone living on the other side of the world. This similarity of human experience brings everyone together and makes all countries one.

Question 8: Something kindred greets us still – what does this line convey?

Answer: The poet wishes us to travel and ‘wander where we will’ because no matter where one goes, there will be something kindred there to greet us. This kindred thing may be something familiar one sees, something that relates back to one’s own home, creating a connection from one place to another.
