Answer: Mother said these words to the poet.

Answer: It was Aunt Annie’s wedding.

Answer: The poet’s mother said these words to her because the poet did not find anyone to talk to, dance with or play. So, the mother wanted her to talk to her cousins and get to know them.

Answer: The poet said these words to her cousin Sue.

(b) What was the poet doing just before this?

Answer: The poet was tickling her aunty’s grandchild.

(c) What did the poet do after this?

Answer: After this the poet danced with all her aunties, Great Granny Claire and cousin Mimi Shetty.

Question 3: Why was the poet excited?

Answer: The poet was excited to hear of Aunt Annie’s wedding. She was pleased at the thought that the whole family would be there.

Answer: The poet tells us that Aunt Annie was standing beside her groom and looked lovely. She was dressed in white and looked like an angel. It was a wonderful sight.

Answer: The poet felt disappointed because the room seemed to be full of strangers. She was unable to find anyone with whom she could talk dance or play. She had hoped to have fun but it seemed unlikely now.

Answer: The poet met a dear little child named Heer by the wedding cake. She was dancing with her twin brother Kabir.
