Question 1: How did Jhalkari get her nick name?

Answer: Jhalkari got her nick name because she had fought and killed the leopard all by herself.

Question 2: How did Jhalkari fight with the leopard?

Answer: Jhalkari fought with the leopard with just a thick stick.

Question 3: How did the British enter the fort?

Answer: The British entered the fort through a gap in the outer walls.

Question 4: Why did the Rani choose Jhalkari to be her companion?

Answer: The Rani chose her because she liked Jhalkariā€™s frank and fearless attitude.

Answer: When Dulaji Thakur said that the captive was not Rani Lakshmibai, the British commander was furious that they had been tricked. He realized that if Jhalakari was allowed to go free, she would be dangerous, so he sentenced her to death by hanging.

Answer: After suppressing the 1857 revolt, the British attacked Jhansi. The British army was well-equipped with canons and guns but Rani Lakshmi Bai fought bravely and pushed the British army back. The British Commander telegraphed for help and more troops came rushing in but they failed to capture the fort.

Answer: Dulaji Thakur was the in-charge of the South gate of the fort. The British took his help because it was otherwise impossible to enter the fort so, they bribed him. Dulaji led them to a spot where there was a break in the wall of the fort.

Answer: The British Commander wanted to capture Rani Lakshmi Bai but she escaped due to Jhalkari. Jhalkari took the charge of the army and helped Rani to escape from the fort.

Question 13: What do you think of the friendship between Rani Lakshmi Bai and Jhalkari?

Answer: Jhalkari was from a very poor family and her husband was a soldier in Raniā€™s fort. Rani not only made Jhalkari her friend but also gave her every respect as a friend. She had immense faith in her. In return, Jhalkari sacrificed her life for Jhansi. She helped Rani to escape from the fort and fought the battle to her last breath. She was a patriot and will always be remembered for her bravery and devotion.
