Question 1: What did Grandad build?

Answer: Grandad built a gadget which would mend anything.

Question 2: What did he use to build it?

Answer: He used tweezers, hooks and springs to build it.

Question 3: What did the poet and his friends bring?

Answer: The poet and his friends brought a pile of toys and also a broken bike.

Question 4: What was Grandad’s gadget supposed to do?

Answer: Grandad’s gadget was supposed to mend broken objects.

Question 5: What did the gadget actually do?

Answer: The gadget built more gadgets from the broken toys.

Question 6: What did the new gadgets do?

Answer: The new gadgets ran about on their little legs around the gris and boys. Then, they rushed Grandad and chased him down the street.

Question 7: Make a list of the rhyming words in the poem.

Answer: The tiny new gadgets ran around the girls and boys and chased Grandad because they experienced a new sense of freedom.

Answer: Yes, the poem is funny because of the following reasons:

  • The things that he used to make the gadget.
  • Instead of mending the broken toys, the gadget made new gadgets.
  • The new gadgets ran around the children on the little legs.
  • They rushed at Grandad and chased him out of his room and into the street.
