Question 1: What sounds do the raindrops make? Do they always sound the same?

Answer: The raindrops make pitter patter sound. No, they do not always sound the same.

Question 2: Who do you think is speaking in the poem?

Answer: I think, a child is speaking in the poem.

Question 3: Why can’t the speaker go out?

Answer: The speaker can’t go out because of the rain.

Question 4: Why can’t the speaker play indoors?

Answer: The speaker can’t play indoors because he/she is naughty and has been punished for breaking playthings.

Question 5: What does the speaker want to do?

Answer: The speaker wants to play with the raindrops.

Question 6: Who are ‘they’ in the poem? How can you be sure?

Answer: ‘They’ are the speaker’s parents. I am sure because the speaker listens to them and doesn’t go outside to play.

Question 7: Do you think the speaker is bored? Why is he bored?

Answer: Yes, the speaker is bored because he/she is not allowed to walk, to play and go outdoors. He/She is not even allowed to play with his/her things as he/she is very naughty and breaks them.

Question 8: Is the speaker punished? Why do you think so?

Answer: Yes, according to me, the speaker is punished because he/she is very naughty and breaks his playthings. All he/she could do is sit at the window and look outside.

Question 9: Write a few pairs of rhyming words from the poem.

Answer: Rain-pane, play-today, all-ball.
