Question 1: What did the physicians ask Saeeda’s mother to do to get well? Did their advice help her? If not, why?

Answer: The physicians asked Saeeda’s mother not to avoid normal food and was instructed to be confined to her small, dingy room with doors and windows closed which was deprived of sunshine and fresh air.

No, their advice did not help her recover, however, she became critical. This was due to her dingy closed surroundings. She was in need of sunshine and fresh air which are more important than any medicine.

Question 2: What did the specialist prescribe in addition to medicine?

Answer: The examined Saeeda’s mother and prescribed effective but costly medicine. He told her to eat anything she wish to eat like chapati, vegetables, milk, fruits, etc. In addition to all this, he asked her to move to a bigger room with doors and windows open. Most importantly to sit in the sun every morning for an hour. He specifically said that sunshine and fresh air are more important than medicine.

Question 3: What did Saeeda tell the sunrays to do?

Answer: Saeeda requested the sunrays to appear next morning with lots of warmth and brightness so that her mother can sit in their warmth and get well soon.

Answer: The sunrays had promised to help Saeeda and had made a pact with her that they would bring down warmth and brightness the next day and help her mother get well. So, they were keen to go down to the earth the next day and forced their way through the dark clouds.

Answer: Saeeda’s mother felt the sun after months, her eyes welled up with tears in gratitude. She felt its warmth on her hands and face and breathed in fresh air. She thought she was in a new world. Though pale, her face glowed and her eyes shone bright. She kissed Saeeda and started feeling better.
