The boy was on his way back from school———–A butterfly flitted down the road with him———–The boy stopped to tie his shoelace—————The butterfly did a somersaulting dip———She followed him till the corner of the lane———–Then she did a flip around and flew away.

Question 2: Read and answer the questions:

She flitted down the road with me. It was really, really cool.

(a) Who is the ‘she’ referred to?

Answer: The butterfly is referred to as ‘she’.

(b) Where was the speaker going and where had he come from?

Answer: The speaker was going home from school.

(c) What was ‘really, really cool’?

Answer: The fact that the butterfly flitted with the boy till his home was ‘really, really cool’.

As we turned the corner, That leads down to our lane.

(a) Who is the ‘we’ referred to?

Answer: ‘We’ refers to the boy and the butterfly.

(b) Who do you think ‘our’ refers to? Is it the same as ‘we’ in the previous line?

Answer: ‘Our’ refers to the boy and his family. No, it is not the same as ‘we’ in the previous line.

(c) Explain the phrase ‘turned the corner’ in your own words.

Answer: ‘Turned the corner’ means reached the place where the way turns.

Question 4: Write a rhyming word from the poem for each of these words:

1. School – cool
2. Shoelace – face
3. Lane – again
