Answer:
Take small amount of peas and crush them to form a paste or powder.
Put this sample in a clean test tube.
Add 1 cc of 40% sodium hydroxide solution and cork the test tube. Shake it to mix the food.
Add 1% of diluted copper sulphate solution to the food solution. Cork and shake it again. Leave it undisturbed for 5 minutes.
Observe the colour change.
Conclusion – The solution turns violet. This indicates the presence of proteins in the sample.
