Jabberwocky Questions & Answers

Question 1: List the nonsense words in the poem and replace them with sensible words. Use the words in the brackets.

Answer:

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The fuming dragon!”

He took his shining sword in hand;
Long time the monstrous foe he sought-
So rested he by the banyan tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And as in dense thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came rolling through the dangerous wood.
And roared as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The sharp blade went snip-snap!
He left it dead and with its head
He went jumping back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my brave boy!
O wondrous day! Yay! Yipee!
He cheered in his joy.”

Question 2: Describe the Jabberwock as described in the poem.

Answer: Jabberwock is a dangerous creature with sharp teeth and strong jaw, its claw can catch anybody. Jabberwock has eyes with fire in them. he can frighten anybody with his roaring noises and confuses with his movements.

Question 3: Tell the story of the Jabberwock in your own words.

Answer: In the Jabberwock story, a father warns his son about Jabberwock which is a dangerous creature with strong jaws and claws, furious eyes and quick body movements. Brave son took up the challenge to kill Jabberwock with his sword so, he went to forest, searched for Jabberwock and when it came with his scary appearances and movements, the boy killed it with his sword.

When he came back to his house, his father was very pleased to see that his son killed Jabberwock. He praised him well and took him into his arms.
