The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The fuming dragon!”

Long time the monstrous foe he sought-
So rested he by the banyan tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And as in dense thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came rolling through the dangerous wood.
And roared as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The sharp blade went snip-snap!
He left it dead and with its head
He went jumping back.

Come to my arms, my brave boy!
O wondrous day! Yay! Yipee!
He cheered in his joy.”
