Question 1: Read and answer the questions:

“Oh, no! What am I going to do now?”

(a) Who said these words?

Answer: Gopal’s servant said these words. 

(b) What was the speaker worried about?

Answer: The speaker (servant) had eaten all the mangoes which the master had asked him to bring for his guest. This was the reason why he was worried. 

(c) How did the speaker try to solve the problem?

Answer: The speaker rushed to his master and told him that the knife was blunt and so, he could not cut the mangoes. He also lied to the guest that his master wants to cut off both his ears. The guest also saw Gopal sharpening his knife, so he fled away. That is how the speaker tried to solve the problem.

(a) Who said these words and to whom?

Answer: Gopal’s friend (the guest) said these words to the servant. 

(b) Where would the speaker not go?

Answer: The speaker would not go into Gopal’s house. 

(c) Why did he say this?

Answer: He said so because Gopal’s servant told him that his master wants to cut off his both ears.

Question 3: Why did the children look forward Grandparent’s Day?

Answer: The children looked forward to Grandparent’s Day as this day meant loads of fun to them. Storytelling, games, activities and singing were some of the things they do on that day.

Question 4: How did Grandpa make his storytelling interesting for the children?

Answer: Grandpa would ask children questions in between, sing a song or two and sometimes get them to wear masks and act. In this way, he made his storytelling interesting for the children. 

Question 5: Where did Gopal send his servant? Why?

Answer: Gopal was expecting a visit from a friend he had not met in many years. His friend liked mangoes very much. So, he sent his servant to the market for buying the finest mangoes. 

Question 6: What was the servant asked to do when he returned?

Answer: The servant was asked to dice the mangoes and serve them to the guest when he arrived.   

Question 7: What did the servant tell Gopal about his friend? Why did he believe it?

Answer: The servant told Gopal that his guest had run away with mangoes. Gopal believed him because his friend was very fond of mangoes and he saw his friend running away.

Question 8: Who solved Grandpa’s riddle? What was the answer?

Answer: Meena solved Grandpa’s riddle. Her answer was that the man bought an apple, as Grandpa perhaps meant that he saw a man go and not a mango fruit.
