Answer: The poet will run to save herself from her kids.

Answer: The kids of the poet are going to say this.

(b) Who will be sleeping?

Answer: The poet will be sleeping when she is an old lady.

(c) Why will they say this ‘with a groan’?

Answer: The kids will say this ‘with a groan’ because she was a big trouble to them when she was awake and now that she is sleeping, she looks so sweet that they can’t be angry any more.

Question 4: What does the poet want to pay back?

Answer: The poet wants to pay back all the joy her children gave her when they were young by staying with her in her old age.

Question 5: What does she want to do when her kids will be on the phone?

Answer: When her kids will be on the phone, she will get into things like sugar and bleach.

Question 6: How will she react to her children’s cooking?

Answer: When her children cook dinner and call her to eat, she will not eat her green beans or salad or meat. She will gag on her okra and spill milk on her table.

Question 7: How will she watch TV?

Answer: She will sit close to the TV and check out what is showing on all the channels.

Question 8: Why does the poet want to do all of these things?

Answer: The poet wants to do all of these things to make her children realise that they have troubled her in exactly the same way when they were young and she had to deal with all their mischiefs and tantrums. She wants them to go through the same things that she had to face.
